This year, the 73rd Annual Saddle Horse Holiday will draw hundreds of visitors to the community. Some years as many as 800 horses and their riders have been drawn to the region to experience Saddle Horse Holiday events at Hole-in-the-Mountain County Park. With its outdoor equine arena, Horse Hill is the perfect venue for the annual two-ring horse show as well as other equestrian events.
The community celebration starts during the week, including the Miss Lake Benton pageant, the Hidden Horseshoe contest, Family Movie Night, Kid's Play event, Family Fun Day, the 3-on-3 Youth Basketball Tournament, the Relay for Life Bean Bag Tournament, the Dogger Days Men's Softball Tournament, the Wildcats football game and many other local events.
On Sunday the day begins with a trail ride at 10:00 a.m. The scenic trails take the riders through beautiful rolling hills throughout Hole-in-the-Mountain Park and concludes at the parade route. The horses are an ever-popular addition to the annual parade which takes place at noon on Sunday. The parade has grown to include as many 100+ units.
The horse show begins at 1:00 p.m. at the arena at the Hole-in-the-Mountain County Park in Lake Benton. There are over 30 classes and games/contests that take place with trophies and ribbons awarded. Come and join the fun!
